Action

The anime “Elfen Lied” tells the story of a mutated species of human, the Diclonius. The Diclonius possess invisible telekinetic arms which are called Vectors. Basically they give them mystical abilities, as well as a pair of cat-ear like horns.
The story begins with a Diclonius, named Lucy, who was captured by the government against her will for research. As Lucy escapes her imprisonment she receives a head injury and emerges a second, child-like personality. The brain-damaged Lucy, only able to say “Nyuu” ends up on a beach. There she stumbles upon two human kids, Kouta and his cousin Yuka. Kouta and Yuka are unware of the murderous personality of Lucy but still resolve to assist her. But soon they will find themselves tangled in a collection of world changing events.
Personal Opinion
One of the things I liked the most about “Elfen Lied” was definitely the OST (Original Soundtrack). The opening works together really good with the music and got a church-like touch. I personally really like gore and that the anime started out with a lot of gore in the first couple of episodes, made like it a lot. The character of Lucy is built up really complex makes her a very fascinating lead character. Something that I did not like about the anime was the kind of boring story. The anime got stuffed with a lot of action filled scenes and effects, but the dull story didn’t live up to its potential. The character of Lucy got some really good elements to play on but the director of “Elfen Lied” didn’t use them in the right way. However I can really recommend the anime “Elfen Lied” to people which like lots of gore and horror. Even if the ending was a bit disappointing, the anime is worth the watch.
